Good design is a good user experience
To be brutally honest, the Path blurb doesn't seem all that original on paper (Tell your friends/family/Twitter/Tumblr what you're doing!) However, it's the user experience that keeps me coming back. And I don't mean "it's pretty". I mean "form is function".
